Conwy Castle

Having lived in North Wales for 20+ years now, I suppose we take castles for granted, but I have to treat you all to just one! Conwy Castle is unusual in that it was built to enclose the whole medieval town. It was started about 1283 by Edward 1 and was built to pacify the rebellious princes of North Wales! The castle is remarkably well preserved and visitors can still walk along the old battlements where there are still 21 towers along the course of the wall.
