Mysterious lichens

Lichens have to be one of the most complicated and mysterious of organisms. A symbiotic relationship between a fungus and an algae. Here the reproductive structures or apothecia can be seen. This is not the most exciting photo of lichens - light not so good. But they are good news as they only grow well where there is no pollution.
