The American Halloween culture has pushed its way to Finland in recent years. Personally I don't know if I'm too happy about it; for the time being it's still a rather shallow and commercial concept, and I'm sure Finns used to have a more down-to-earth, social way to celebrate the season's harvest and the coming of winter. But as it is, nobody seems to propagate those folklore practices nowadays - we need the global lore of Halloween. Well, times change, people change.

And two consecutive holidays will exhaust even the liveliest of fanged creatures - a friend's miniature pinscher takes a nap during our watching of the evening news.
