A Glass for Ian
The afternoon we attended a celebration for the life of Ian Morrison who died the other week at the age of 57. Too young.
Ian was a contemporary and he was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago. He battled Scottish Government to get the treatment he felt would extend his life and many will benefit from the campaign.
The chapel was packed to overflowing. That wasn't because of the circumstances of his death but the way he lived his life. He was part of the fabric of the community and actively supported its traditions. He was known by most and was a friend to many. A good, loyal and generous friend with a wicked sense of humour and a laugh which infected the sizeable company which was usually around him. He could also be gloriously grumpy.
Pink Floyd provided the soundtrack to this afternoon's celebration. His family and friends through their wonderful accounts of life with Ian reminded us of the many reasons to celebrate.
Time for reflection in a way he would have approved.
