Kandy

I wrote at length about Kandy last night and was just about to post when the guesthouse turned off its router...
So this will be shorter.
Kandy is a town in the mountains with a lake in the centre built by an ancient Sri Lankan king. It was never conquered by the Portuguese or the Dutch who stayed around the coastal areas and the British reached it in 1815 but took 16 years to build a road to it.
