Waiting and Watching
Dinner tonight in Ipanema at our favourite open air restaurant there. We always have the same 'meia picanha', (half a portion of steak) served with rice, chips, salad and 'farofa' (ground mandioca and their one has little pieces of egg mixed in). We can never finish it and this is half a portion between us both! You can choose to grill your own steak at your table (which we do) and so when we've finished we get them to grill the rest of the meat in the kitchen and we take everything away in a doggy bag. This would be more than enough for both of us for lunch the next day, but we always give our doggy bags to one of the many people living on the street.
In other news, the little restaurant bar opposite our studio opened again today under new ownership and months of renovation! It's still not quite ready and when we tested it out at lunchtime for a coffee, I left with stained arms from the newly varnished tables. At least it was just my arms and not sleeves! The jury's still out to see what the service will be like. There certainly wasn't a welcome drink or any special first day welcome today for first day customers, but we'll see!
Blip's a night time grab at a bus stop on the way home. We were walking.
