The Common

Today we have had heavy rain, hail storms and sunshine; it is also very windy. Our pond has crept further up the orchard; it is still not quite as high as it was on 25 January 1988, but it is not far off.

We walked over to the village common this morning to see how far the water level had receded, today’s picture is of one of the benches, which was completely covered with flood water yesterday. There is still a little standing water and I presume the common is very soggy, although I did not test this theory.
