Twig Parachutes
I suddenly glimpsed these tiny, slender fruiting bodies of a saprophytic fungus early this afternoon as I was walking over a woody compost heap on the edge of our garden, and was immediately entranced.
Unfortunately, my camera equipment is not ideally suited to close-ups of subjects such as this, so this photo shows little if any detail of the fungus itself.
A Web search this evening suggests that these might be what are known as Twig Parachutes, Marasmiellus ramealis.
