Fairy tale walk

Sometimes I feel like I have walked into a fairy tale. This morning there were ten swans on the canal. Half expected to see a young woman frantically knitting a nettle yarn sweater on the bank.
This particular swan had done the whole running along the water, take off thing, which I had missed cos there were boats in the way, but when I caught him/her up she was flapping her wings in a most theatrical way. Beautiful birds.
