Not so Silent Pool
The waterfall that comes out of Silent Pool and it's sister pond, Sherbourne, run into a neighbours garden and are now a raging torrent. This is what should be a gentle fall run that links the two ponds.
Silent Pool gets it's name from the fact that the springs that feed it rise gently and mainly from under it's surface. There shouldn't be a ripple if there's no wind. Not now. There has always been a little trickle that comes from the bank at the far end of the pool. From time to time it dries up totally leaving the bottom springs to slowly fill the pool. This weather has changed things drastically and the trickle has become five visible springs that gush into the pool from above the water. The under water springs in both ponds are also raging, more than quadrupling the flow that would exit at the best of times.
It's hard to believe that I blipped the pond as we did rain dances, totally empty in 2012.
