Mathematics in Nature

I've always liked pine cones, I find their pattern fascinating in their perfection.
I've read that the italian mathematician Fibonacci has studied patterns in Nature and determined the mathematical equations predicting the formation of those spiral patterns in plants, flowers, even seashells.
Those equations would give me a headache, but I'll never tire of the beautiful results.
