"The Orange" ...

...It's a good day to stay inside today - out of the heat as there is a north wind and I'm just staying put, but this morning it was cool enough so among other things I picked this rather large Orange to show you...

...It's been sitting on the tree along with the new fruit looking rather ridiculous - so rather than let the heat take its toll and end up on the ground - I picked it..We didn't think it would get any bigger now and so here it is together with a normal sized orange from our Navel tree - you can see there is a difference..

...When it's cut, it will not, however, have any juice inside, it's just all show really, but it looks good - and can't we relate a few things to that - including John's Cordless Drill from yesterday - it looked good, but..(well, he's happy today with his new Drill anyway)..

...Next to is is some lovely little apples which were given to us by one of our lovely neighbours in the next street, she's devastated as the apples are all burning on the tree, and dropping off..they're as bitter as, she said, they're not ripe yet, but we'll do something with them..Apple chutney comes to mind..

...And even the pretty little hibiscus which generally last 24 hrs without water - lasted just an hour..yes, it's hot today..and we feel for the poor fire fighters in different states fighting new outbreaks of fires on this day..some have been injured and some have suffered heat exhaustion..

...At the moment here - it's 34deg.C - but it's been worse..
