Road and River

One of the more scenic locations in Mid Canterbury would have to be the Rakaia River gorge. It is a great spot to catch salmon as they head up stream towards their spawning grounds from November through to March if your lucky enough. Our native wood pigeons frequent the place aswell from time to time. Jet boater's use it as a handy location for launching their boats when the river allows. Well worth stopping and having a look. Be prepared to hang onto your hats if its blowing because it can be very windy here if the Nor Wester winds blowing.
