..cottage. A few of these prefabricated wood and iron buildings can be seen in the Knysna area.

The majority are probably relics from the Millwood gold rush of the 1880's. The rush petered out after about 5 years as it became impossible to follow the gold seam in the heavily folded geology and the houses disappeared from the small settlement to be recycled elsewhere.
