Inflorescence installation
Visited the Garden Museum in Lambeth Palace Road today to see the hanging floral installation created for the exhibition 'Gardens and Fashion'. The installation is called 'The Flower Garden Displayed' and uses 4,600 cut flowers to create a canopy of colour. Nice.
The museum itself is tiny, but housed in a beautiful, ancient church which is also the burial place of John Tradescant, the first great gardener and plant hunter in British History. Interesting to us, was the inscription on a grave in the church's entrance, which told the story of William Bacon who was killed by 'thunder and lightning at his window' in July 1787.
It was pretty expensive to get in.
The kids weren't that keen :-)
The garden was forlorn, but it is February.
I'm glad we went. We may not go again.
I is for (interesting inscription in addition to) inflorescence installation using an iPhone collage app.
