View from Bar Hill towards the Campsies

Mrs B and I walked from Auchinstarry along the canal to Twechar, and then over Bar Hill (site of an old Roman Fort) and Castle Hill (site of a prehistoric fort) before following the Antonine Wall back down to Croy and Auchinstarry.

Although there is only a little of the history to actually see, you do get a real sense of the presence of something on this hillside.

The walk itself a very good 4 mile circuit, quite varied, and plenty to see. The above blip being only one of the magnificent views, and on a clear day, despite it's low height, you can see for a considerable distance.
