Sun on sea

The weather finally cleared enough today to head down to the beach. I wouldn't necessarily mind bad weather at the beach incidentally, but a freezing wind isn't the best for a four-year-old who will still manage to get wet all over despite a waterproof suit and wellies.

It took a couple of attempts to find a beach nearby as there'd been a cliff fall at the first place we tried and the beach had been closed off to the public. The storms have really taken their toll.

There were still plenty of showers around - even hail - but the sun shone a fair bit and actually felt quite pleasant. Nancy wasn't doing too badly, just wet wellies and feet, until she fell off a rock into a stream running down the beach. There were quite a few tears.

But it was time to head home anyway and a last ice cream helped her forget her woes.

We've come home to no dog as she's still with the in-laws so the house feels a bit strange without her.
