Ballooning over Bagan

This morning was a special treat as we watched the sun rise over Bagan from a hot air balloon. Bagan is situated on the left bank of the Irrawaddy River in middle Burma. It is one of the richest archaeological sites in the world . During the 11th and 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains. Today, some 2200 structures can still be seen.
