Legless Lizard

I found this little fellow while digging in the garden. He's lucky I didn't chop him in half with the spade while I was digging. When I saw him in the hole I picked him up and when he had calmed down a little we took some pictures. I then put him in the compost bin which is usually where we find these lizards. You can see that he actually still has tiny legs which are virtually useless. Lots of people mistake these for snakes which of course they aren't
