Malcolm and Tamie
Since there seems to be a bit of re-taking of old BW SPs today...
This was taken in about 1980, I suppose.
Not sure who the photographer was - either Van Loendersloot or Gary Moloney, most likely. It wasn't me, anyway (I'm being Tamie).
This was a Revue in which Malcolm and Tamie were more or less the Bob and Dolly Dyer of Parliament. In this scene, I think we were bringing the unemployment statistic down by making people ineligible (that sounds about right, doesn't it?).
That's a little Unemployed Person on the right, Knowing His Place.
There was also a Game Show scene (called "Your Number's Up"), in which members of the audience were forced to buy raffle tickets and if their number was drawn they got conscripted into the armed forces.
Tamie was the barrel girl - on roller skates. It was a bit tricky getting up the ramp from the dressing room, as I recall. Not to mention down again.
That was fun...!
(So now my secret's out - Mrs Kelly is not the only Old Barrel Girl in town...!)
Any Australian over 50 will remember those "Life wasn't meant to be easy" days.
