Grasses by the River Loing
Sunday
The morning was sunny while we were at church, but unfortunately the clouds rolled in again during the early afternoon. We tried a new place for a walk this afternoon, that a friend had told me about this week. Plaine de Sorques is a wildlife area between Moret sur Loing and Montigny sur Loing, based around some disused gravel pits and along the River Loing. There are a couple of bird hides, but the birds were keeping their distance today. However, through the binoculars we could see grebes and quite a number of tufted ducks, as well as the usual mallards, coots, swans and Canada geese. The path along the river had obviously been recently flooded, but today it was open, though a little muddy in places. It was quite a breezy afternoon, and these grasses were being tossed about in the wind. In the evening we were back at the cinema in Fontainebleau, this time watching the movie Philomena in "version originale", that is in English with French subtitles. Judi Dench in the title role was wonderful as always.
