Waterslide
Today was the last day of fall session swim lessons, and we were all happy about it - me because I've had my fill of the twice-a-week wrangling of soggy children in the increasingly dark, cold evenings, and A & E because on the last day of lessons, everyone gets to go down the community center's waterslide.
In the end, E decided to forego the slide, but A made three trips down. The first two times, her instructor Kyle caught her at the bottom (as in this photo) but the final time, she swam to the edge on her own.
In other exciting news, A graduated from the Polar Bear level - it's pretty uncommon to move up a level after only one session, as it usually takes more than 4-5 weeks to master the various skills and objectives in each level. In order to graduate, A had to demonstrate that she could do a front crawlstroke (with face in water and side breathing) for 50 feet, and a back crawl for 50 feet. The next level is Sea Lion, which is held in the "deep" pool (lap pool) - but we'll take a break through the holidays and look into the late winter or early spring session. E remains a Penguin - he got very good at blowing bubbles in the water and his confidence with back floats is growing.
A stay-home day tomorrow, woohoo!
