Liquid gold
Headed back to the Darenth valley today looking for a location to photograph a car. The river's name derives from the Celtic word derva, meaning oak, and so is supposed to be 'the river where oak trees grow'. Didn't spot many.
The village centre in Eynsford is still blocked by a metre of water, so I took the road towards Lullingstone Castle, once known for silk production, now the site of the fascinating World Garden, a global collection of plants landscaped as a map. The sinking sun was fanning through the stately arches of the majestic brick railway viaduct, and seemed to be turning the swollen river into molten gold.
