Arch
This is painted inside the archway just outside my room. The painters who used to paint on the walls of forts and havalies in Rajasthan are historically related by caste to textile printers, but most no longer claim this connection (on either side). As I've walked through the hallways I have noticed many of the mineature paintings, the blue pottery mosaic, and the flowers on the walls leading up to my room, but until today I had not looked up to see this beautiful archway. To excuse myself, there is an uneven set of stairs underneath the archway, so looking up seemed a bit foolhardy.
Didn't get out much today. Caught up with family, practiced my Hindi, tried to remember how to tie a sari for Kavita's puja tomorrow (it's the folds, they kill me every time), and did some work.
