Leeks and daffys

Where are the daffys? Well they're not out yet, only a few leeks left in the Welshman's vegetable garden. At least you can eat them, unlike the daffodils, although there was one memorable occasion when he did try to eat them!

The Welsh seem to have quite a few national symbols, the leek being the oldest. According to legend St David (patron saint of Wales) ordered his Welsh soldiers to identify themselves by wearing a leek on their helmets in an ancient battle against the Saxons that took place in a leek field. There you are then!
