Health and Safety Day
We were all summoned to The Waterside Theatre today for our annual health and safety day....and that, I think, is enough about that.
This is the view from Waterside (2nd floor) and you can see New County offices, still partially clad in scaffold, which were built between 1963-66, designed by F B Pooley (County Architect) and in front is the Old County Police Headquarters (where the Great Train Robbers were questioned!).
The Old Police Station was built in 1935 and designed by C H Riley, the same man who designed Old County Offices. The Police station has been empty for quite a few years and rumours abound that both it and Old County Offices will be sold off and possibly turned into a hotel!
Aylesbury's new Police station, built in 1961, was also designed by Mr Pooley, he also designed other significant buildings in the town but he will always be remembered for the New County Offices or 'Pooley's Folly' as it is known!
