Most peculiar

Just under a month ago I blipped a photo of a trunk, taken in my garage. There was a certain smugness in the thought that I knew the trunk's backstory and why it was temporarily residing in my basement, whereas others would be left wondering.

Today I'll willingly trade my trunk story, and even embellish it (sorry RH), for an explanation of what an early 19th century copy of Foxe's Book of Martyrs is doing lying abandoned in that same garage.
