Day 2: Chocolate Milk?

Triathlon is an advertisers dream. There are lots of male and female, middle class obsessives ready to buy everything and anything to give them the "marginal gains" they are looking for.

This year I watched the Ironman world championship from Kona, and the big product was Chocolate Milk. Apparently it will make you recover quicker and therefore train harder than if you used other sports drinks. Does it work? Maybe, maybe not. The interesting question is, how marginal are the gains if it does work? That's the question that nobody will ever answer because it can't be measured. I believe that all that can be said is that the meaningful gains are made by getting out and doing the miles, executing the plan and seeing where it takes you. No expensive chocolate milk required.

Today's "serious" training consisted of just over 40 km on the bike at a steady effort. Nothing to get excited about but one little step forward.
