ice pigeon...

and crusted lake

i'm super surprised this shot even turned out - i was surrounded by pigeons - ducks - some coots - ended up getting startled by a dog or some noise - and out of the corner of my eye - saw a flash - you know how that goes - i thought i was going to miss the shot of my life or something - not likely - but who knows, right? so i pivoted and snap, snap - i'm not sure why there were so many pigeons out and about today - perhaps they were taking advantage of the small warming trend we had - the little bit of sun which was out - what a welcome relief after so much cold and fog the past several days - i was beginning to think we'd never see the sun again - but that fog laid down this crusty layer of ice over the existing snow - gave it some substance and depth - which...

once i got home - on the upload - found my random shot of the ice pigeon - had actually turned out - the backdrop of the lake - with its snow crustyness - in back of the bird - adds this sort of rustic element - at least that's what my eye sees - and somehow i kept coming back to this one - even though i had others i really liked - and surprisingly - other than some cropping - i didn't have to do anything else to my "oops" of a shot for the day - i'm beginning to have more confidence in my ability - to simply to take a photograph - be pleased with it - have it be enough - now that's what makes for...
