Faith and Development Conference (Part 2 of...)

A little bit about the conference.

So the conference started off with a Professor of Economics who did his PhD work in poverty alleviation asking us a question. "What is poverty" the man said and he followed up with the answer that in spite of his credentials he didn't even know until years after becoming a professor. Poverty is far more than the providing physical alleviation. Poverty is far more than just a lack of...stuff.

He went on to explain that it is paramount that we are conscious of how we define poverty because if poverty is simply a lack of stuff then our discourse in alleviating it will be to...provide stuff. We need to understand to view people holistically with minds and hearts who feel and are treated and viewed as if they are not.
