Old school dinners

Following on from the new freshness of school meals shown in yesterday's blip - here's how things used to look.

This is the "brock" kitchen where all the waste food comes into, is cleared and dirty dishes washed - no dishwashers to be found here.

On the right of the photo the two black handles conceal the steriliser. Once washed, all cutlery and plates are placed in a big basket and dipped into boiling water, covered and left for a few minutes to sterilise.

You will be hard pressed to find hygiene like you find in school meals!
