Faerie spotting
The yard looks fabulous after a very big effort of clean-up and tidy...worth every sore muscle and achy joint. The low, speedily sinking afternoon sun was blazing through the bare magnolia tree which is now covered in soft, fuzzy capsules that hold next Spring's blooms.
I did not do anything to this picture except change the temperature in Camera Raw (the camera's tungsten setting, which I forgot to reset to daylight, made it too cold) but it also caused a tonal shift in air color which, together with the strong backlighting, created the right conditions for capturing a very rare and elusive Magnolia Faerie* coming in for a landing. She's just a blur because of the speed with which her tiny wings are flapping, but it's definitely a she (females are yellow)
And if you look real cl...what? You do not believe in faeries? You must not have seen this then.
*I have no idea what the light spot is, probably the sun in the lens.
