Our first (and possibly last) sunflower

My daughter's class each planted a sunflower in a pot and brought then home for planting. We immediately went out and bought more sunflower seeds and planted the lot. We now have our first sunflower actually revealing itself! It is about 2 foot high. We have two others which may be yellow or red sunflowers that are looking possible but we will wait and see. The absolute dearth of rain here in SoCal means I have had to water it carefully every other day or so. Most of the other sunflowers couldn't take it when I forgot to water them for 3 days.
