Books that plant a seed

My daughter watched Schindler's List last year and wanted to know more about the holocaust. I lent her my Primo Levi books. She didn't read much of them, but they sat n her shelves for a while and she was aware of them. I like to think she'll revisit them when she's older. I read If This is a Man when I was about 24, and while it recounts a tale of such inhumanity, Levi's style is such it that it remains one of the most humane books I have ever read. All of these books are great, but that and The Periodic Table are the real masterpieces.
