A chimpanzee...

...or a reasonably intelligent dog would have learnt by now not to expect romantic gestures on birthdays, anniversaries and least of all on overblown commercialised retail bonanza with a vague connection to a 2000 year old saint who may or may not have been any more romantic than the next person.

It seems I am more stupid than a chimpanzee or reasonably intelligent dog....

Anyway, here is a packet of pickled onion crisps; we thought the last remnants of the box purchased before Christmas had long since been eaten, but 2 packets were serendipitously found lurking in the back of the cupboard with a nice long "use before" date.

Who needs hearts and flowers?
