Fittie Rooftops

Fittie is an old fishing village at the east end of Aberdeen harbour, it is a planned housing development that was purpose-built to re-house Aberdeen's local fishing community and was laid out in 1809 by architect John Smith.

My Father grew up in Fittie and spent many of his childhood years here....... although that was quite a bit later than 1809 I hasten to add!

You can see the modern tower of the Aberdeen Harbour Marine Operation Centre in the background on the left, which was built in 2007 and overlooks all movements into and from the harbour.

Best viewed large......there's a lot of detail in the image :-)
