Today was going to be a 100% "me" day and I was going to have a long lie in. BUT, I ended up having to let workmen in first thing and also deal with an urgent issue so I was up early. However, once both were complete it meant I was ready to start on "me" things earlier than I would have been. Time to tackle the unpacking of the final room!
I spent the first 45mins moving boxes out of the room so I could get in and get to the cupboards. Then it dawned on me that before I put things in the cupboards I needed to put some shelves up. Would I be defeated? I've NEVER put shelves up myself but decided to give it a go. A trip to B&Q to buy the board and get it cut then back home. An hour later I'd had lunch and put three shelves up. Not perfect but certainly passable and practical. I was feeling very pleased with myself.
I'd run out of brackets as I decided to put an extra shelf up so I had another trip out and did some of the other items I needed to do too. Back home I started on the second cupboard, this time not successful. I hit a technical hitch too technical for me called plasterboard. Oh well, I tried, and I was successful with the first one!
By this time it was getting late. I worked hard for the rest of the afternoon and evening, unpacking boxes and trying to find a home for everything. It was like getting a quart into a pint pot. There is certainly less room upstairs here. Half way through I had managed to box myself in the room. I persevered but didn't manage to complete the task. I need those extra shelves and my brother is very kindly going to do those for me when he comes up soon - thanks D! At least I can get in the room now but instead of two tidy spare rooms and one full of boxes I now have three untidy rooms! Work in progress as they say. Still, I feel as though I've achieved a lot and feel much happier for it. One of the monsters is in the process of being tamed!
