Such sadness.

This beautiful old chestnut tree which I have snapped pics of so many times took the brunt of the storm last night and has suffered considerable damage. I think a pic of this tree exists on my previous blips and I was so saddened this morning to find it standing with a branch missing. Yes I know it looks like a entire tree laying on the ground but it isn't.
I was really surprised when I zoomed it to realise that the fibres are woven like a basket (if you look closely you may be able to see).
A part of history just died....
