Surprise! We adore you.
The new school doesn't do the traditional, store-bought Valentine's Day thing. Instead they have students write a compliment to their classmates and place them in a personalized brown paper bag. I volunteer on Fridays, so I got to witness (and photograph) the results.
Students weren't required to write to each classmate. They were just given a stack of scrap paper and chose who they would write to. I was nervous that the students would count how many they had and that some students might not get as many and feel left out. I think some of the students were somewhat nervous about this too, although they didn't let on. The fears were for naught as demonstrated by this photo of a boy as he looked into his sack. Today was also the last day at our school for this boy. What a lovely send off.
