Pretty Polly.
This is a Ring-Necked Parakeet. There are literally hundreds of them in Richmond and Bushy Parks. One theory about how these birds came to this country is that a flock escaped from Shepperton Studios in south-west London during the filming of "The African Queen" in 1951. However, the RSPB says there are records of parakeets in Britain in 1850.
Although they are very pretty birds, they are also extremely noisy and destructive.
I quite like them - shhh!
