White Feather

Since the C18, to the British Army the white feather has been a symbol of cowardice; in other countries it has the opposite meaning, of pacifism or of bravery. Others believe that the appearance of a white feather indicates the presence of a guardian angel, or the spirit of a departed loved one.

So how do I interpret this feather, that has hung in the contorted hazel for several weeks?
