The foot and a half of snow from Thursday, condensed into a thick wet unstable mat that threatened to turn my ankles and tear my knees as I tried to kick a descent track for the cross country skis. I had a tough work-out though it wasn't good skiing.

Zach was home for his birthday and we all ate a grand feast and watched a good movie ("Rush") and ate cake and fudge.
