Spoiled

Two days out of hospital and doing well.
Had the attractive doctor and my attractive nurse from Friday spend some time with me today because there was an incident while i was in hospital and we needed to discuss how I am coping and what the plan of action is going to be.
Because they are lovely, and I'm "the best patient ever", they each spoiled me. One got me a divine iced mocha, the other got me a heavenly chocolate and nougat mousse. After the hell I've had since Wednesday, it has definitely been nice to be a bit spoiled. And the guys have spoken to hospital hierarchy to see if, given the nature of things and how involved and connected we have become, we can be allowed contact/friendships outside their line of duty. Fingers crossed.

Anywho. While in hospital my MRI was described as "not good", despite them knowing I'm quite familiar with the jargon and wanted to know what was so "not good" about it. So I read the report myself and felt sick.
"Small posterior disc protrusions at T7-8, T9-10 and T10-11."
This was not seen on scans at all since September, even as recent as two weeks ago, and they were being done fortnightly. That made me worried, because I have felt some discomfort in that area, but I just thought it was muscular because of my lower back being so bad. When three discs slipping a bit in my middle back barely registers, it says something of the pain in my lower back.
Then it went on to say "central disc protrusions at L2-3, L3-4, L4-5 as well as a left paracentral disc protrusion at L5-S1, indenting the anterior theca, impinging upon the intrathecal nerve roots. The L5-S1 left paracentral disc protrusion contacts and displaces the traversing left S1 nerve root".
The L5-S1 shifting left is what ended up with me in hospital as it was sudden, and I couldn't move my left leg. Hefty doses of anti-inflammatory injections (I can't have them via mouth as they cause stomach ulcers, the reason I was in hospital two weeks ago), which helped get the swelling off the nerve a bit. So the left leg is working again, but I can't feel it properly. And I have a spectacular limp now.

Interesting times ahead.
