Vondelpark

There is so much more to Amsterdam than museums, canals, cafes, legalised drugs and sex. There are several parks in the city centre where there are massive numbers of birds who seem very used to the close proximity of humans.

I was stunned by how many herons there were - I've never seen a heron before - and how calm and, well, approachable, they seemed.

When I met with Willemien and Kelly on Saturday we talked about the parks, and also that there are parakeets living there too. I had hoped to see some of the fabulous creatures they described and I was not disappointed, as you can see here.
