Stolpersteine
Went on a tour with Flatone today. First stop was the Grindelviertel, around the university. Flatone works in a project who does research about the jews who lived there and were killed during the Nazi regime. The group writes biographies and takes care about the Stolpersteine (tripping stones).
Stolpersteine are memorials who where placed in front of the homes the jews where forced to leave. The ones you see in the blip are for the family of the man Flatone researches so he may gets his own. We polished them to look nice when we took some photos. Flatone hopes that with photos of the stones and of the houses and surroundings the descendants and survivors he contacted might remember and be able to provide more informations.
After this serious activity we went to have a last look at the Esso-Häuser at the Reeperbahn. They are liable to collapse and will be removed soon. Hopefully they wont replace them with another luxury hotel... Last stop was at the classic car gas station at Hammerbrook. All in all a good excursion with some nice photos.
Because of all the photos I decided to give Flickr a try. Check my stream out, if you are curious (; I appreciate feedback of any kind :D
