Turdus migratorius

The American Robin doesn't always elicit much enthusiasm from a birdwatcher such as myself. It falls to the wayside of my attention along with the other extremely common urban and backyard species. I started noticing some time ago that my lack of interest in these birds had inadvertently led to a lack of decent photographs of them. So today I made an effort to capture this species for my own records.

This puddle here was the site of a whole lot of bathing this morning. It was taken advantage of by several species as I watched it, including White-Headed Woodpeckers, a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, a few Hermit Thrushes, and perhaps a dozen Robins. The Robins quarreled much among themselves for the prime puddle spot, and so I was privy to many inter-species confrontations.
