Exit stage left

Pah!

Hardly a surprise that we encountered a few of these on our ride this morning but with newly fitted mudguards and overshoes we were largely dry by the end this week. Even overshoes won't keep your feet dry if they're underwater.

It was also the first day for clip in pedals and consequently my first fall, in embarrassing slow motion. I think I'd got the hang of them by the end which is a good job as we became targets of a cyclist hating motorist. Almost wiped K out on a narrow windy road into town and then inexplicably went up hill and looped round down our one-way street as we were pushing the bikes back to our house. It's a slow, narrow road. He didn't think so. I leapt out of the way, K (who had got 95% of him and his bike between parked cars) tried the universal slow down sign and got hit by the wing mirror. Cue driver getting out screaming "F***ing cyclists" and trying to deck K. It turns out a bike in front of your face is enough to stop someone throwing a lunch and he sloped back to his car and drove off in the opposite direction.

Drama over the rest of the day has passed in more Olympic viewing and laundry. I'm putting off thinking about packing until later.
