Don't cry for me Argentina
When we were in Buenos Aires we visited Le Recoleta Cemetery where amongst others , Eva Peron is buried. I hadn't realised she was only 33 when she died. It was in 1976, some 20 years after her death, that her body finally arrived at Le Recoleta. It had been on an odyssey around the world as after her death it left Argentina and was taken to Italy where it was buried in Milan. It then was moved to Spain where her husband Juan Peron was in exile. After he died Eva's embalmed body ,now badly damaged, was finally laid to rest in Le Recoleta and lies 5 metres underground in a fortified bunker. Hundreds come every day to see her and lay flowers.
