Hurly burly
I was sat in my car at Kitty Islet, debating a dangerous stroll across the shale to get a snap of the adirondack chairs blown over, when through the mist and spray appeared this guy! And there he was heading for Enterprise Channel, which is dodgy at the best of times. I suppose it was a marginally better route than going round the light house end of Trial Island in a gale, though.
He was bobbing about like a mad thing and appeared to be in a bit of a hurry. I was transfixed! As I'm not a proper photographer it didn't occur to me to get a few snaps, despite the fact my camera was sat in my lap ... switched on, lens cap removed, ready for action. Nah. After I'd watched him twizzle through the channel I came to.
As he could only be headed to Oak Bay Marina I shot off through the golf course, around the bend and out to the very edge of the Turkey Head, a most perfect spot to monitor the marina entrance.
I sat for a bit watching waves spray across my car, pondering the likelihood that stones might pepper my paintwork. A large black vehicle pulled in beside me (there were only forty other parking spots to choose from). I chanced a glance to my right. POLICE! I broke into a sweat for no reason. (heroin stashed in wheel well, check. illegal alien hidden under blanket in trunk, check. what could go wrong?). More police appeared from other municipalities! I tried to look like I always sit in my car at the end of the Turkey Head in a gale.
He finally came rolling around the bend. I shot off a bunch of crap snaps as he went through the gap. The police trooped along the fingers toward his berth. A coast guard guy in a survival suit pushed past them.
An alarming police presence. It was hard to tell if it was an incident or a manoeuver. All the same, best not make any sudden moves.
