Night time by the Avon

The title pretty much says it all really, this shot is taken from behind where the old Crown Plaza hotel used to stand, looking out towards Victoria Square.

It's eerie at just how abandoned the area is; there's still plenty of parts that are fenced off, as well as some obvious remediation of surrounding buildings. In short, it looks like a city that's been left, which I suppose in effect Christchurch has been.

Still, the rebuild continues apace; I'm sure it won't be long until the streets surrouding Victoria Square and this part of Victoria Streets are busy again. Well, maybe in a few years shall we say?
